Description

A wry critique of celebrity tabloid culture by acclaimed cartoonist Adrian Tomine, whose collected works include the graphic novels Summer Blonde, Shortcomings (my personal favorite) and Killing and Dying, and whose art has been featured in magazines like The New Yorker. This particular piece was published as a 2-page fold-out in Jane magazine, which folded in 2007 (hence, the art is from 2007 or earlier - if anyone knows the publication date of the specific issue, please drop me a line).

The piece is worth taking the time to observe closely - it's hilarious, a great display of Tomine's acid wit. I love how densely-packed this piece is with Tomine's writing! I'm thrilled to finally add a Tomine piece I really love to my collection.

LOL! Don't think the complete "Shortcomings" is in my OA future, but, I have already bought other Tomine artwork!
