DescriptionOne of my very favorite Doom 2099 covers. The central figure is a cybernetic being named Fever, and he is surrounded by at least a dozen globes containing images of Doctor Doom's armored face.I have to admit, when I first saw the cover, I thought these were all Christmas tree ornaments. I mean, for an egomaniacal dictator like Doom, a Christmas tree covered with ornaments like this would be right on brand. And even after reading the issue, I gotta say I'm still not exactly sure what the globes are supposed to be ... so let's say they are Christmas tree ornaments after all. Love the design of the character Fever. And the colorized version of Fever is very cool looking too, as you can see from the additional pic. "Alas poor Doom ... I SLEW him well!" *Optional reading if you're bored* More on the character of Fever: A guy named Eduardo Devargas sent the cyberspace being known as Fever against Doom, infecting his computers and even the systems of his armor. This forced Doom to enter cyberspace and face Fever. Only after absorbing the info-gathering abilities of a discarded program named Paloma was Doom able to gather enough power in Cyberspace to face off against Fever directly, and finally, destroy him. That's a cool looking bad guy on a cool looking cover. And now I want a Doom 2099 Christmas ornament as well.

I too always thought they were Christmas tree bulbs! Though they also look like Doom Balls, his version of Hobgoblin's pumpkin bombs. I gotta say, I think my favourite part of this cover is the fun take on Shakespeare's Hamlet dialogue. Fun stuff all around!

Love when Pat was on this book. Next to Green Lantern, this was some of my favorite art from him. Nice cover!

I like Christmas ornaments! Yes, let's go with that :) I like how busy the cover is, in a good way! Lots to pore over, and I dig how in some of these '90s covers you've got some of the art obscuring the title lettering - adds an additional 3D feel. And the "alas" line - reminded me of the cover to ASM 347 right when I read it! Venom says the same thing when holding up what he thinks is Spidey's skull. Congrats!

Futuristic Doom Bots? Polluted Metal-Snow of the future? Doom Virusware? Balloons to scare little kiddies? I got nothin, either. But you have something...a super cool cover! I really dug the 2099 lines, and wouldn't mind seeing some again. Great score, Paul. Congrats!
