DescriptionWonder Woman was created to give women a superhero of their own. And to show how powerful she was, the writers and editors kept putting her in danger from unexpected sources--Giant eels, an Egyptian Pyramid with deadly eyebeams, a Plesiosaurus, a Fire Genie, the list goes on and on. Every issue seemed to challenge the editors and writers to come up with a new and more deadly way to threaten Diana. In this issue, Wonder Woman and the Golden Age Flash are being threatened by the least likely source possible. I mean, really, if you can't trust the Statue of Liberty who can you trust? Rich Buckler, a terrific comic book artist who put in stints at both Marvel and DC, does the honors here.Social/Sharing |

This issue really stands out in my mind. Cheesy - but awesome at the same time. Just a fantastic cover!

Cool Statue of Liberty cover. Did Ghostbusters II "borrow" the idea from this cover? Buckler was a very competant artist and underrated in my book. Nice one Bill!

A silly cover, but fun just the same. It's also an example of how decent Colletta could be as an inker. He did a fine job here, especially on the Flash figure.

A quirky image but doesn't take away from the illustration! Nice rendition of WW here by Buckler/Colletta! Congrats!

While the cover was played for laughs the art is no joke. Tremendous piece!

I love Buckler as much as the nice guy. But I have to assume someone didn't sign off having the Statue trying to clobber Diana with the torch.
