Hope everybody is enjoying my "April O'Neil cel shares in April"!

From the fourth season Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Fred Wolf Films) episode "Unidentified Flying Leonardo." In this scene, April O'Neil is being held captive by Dr. Davens, the mad agrarian scientist of upstate New York, having previously abducted her in a fake alien UFO. Despite being tied-up in Davens' farm greenhouse, she remains as defiant as ever, sure to get her big story on file after Leonardo and Turtles come to her rescue!

This is a hand-painted painted acetate cel layered over background print. In this case, the the supplied background differs a little from the original episode context. These cels were sold framed in mats and protective plastic sleeves at various toy and department stores throughout the early 1990s under the "Animation Art" label. This cel was scanned inside the sealed plastic sleeve, so the image clarity suffers a bit. Also attached is a screencap from the digital VUDU copy, showing the approximate cel in its final form at around the 14 minute, 54 second mark.

The price stickers are really cool as they add some more history and flavor. Toys R Us!

Yes, that Toys R Us sticker really does add something to the overall effect! I never had much opportunity to visit the stores back in the days when these cels would have been sold, but I imagine I would have coveted them greatly back in the day. Those prices really do seem like a bargain, even when considering the relativity of inflation rates.

Thank you! I find researching the old episodes to match up frames to cels to be one of the most enjoyable aspects of this kind of collecting!
