DescriptionCyclops versus Sauron! Just a stunning image from Kerry Gammill and Dan Panosian for the comic X-Men Unlimited. XMU was a new title created in the 1990's to satisfy the huge fan demand for more X-Men stories. Every issue featured new tales that fit inbetween the main comic's storyline. The book also gave new and lesser-known artists a rare chance to work on Marvel's premiere team. In this issue, Cyclops and Jean Grey fly to the Savage Land to rescue Havok from the evil vampire pterodactyl, Sauron. Gammill and Panosian did a great job on this cover, IMHO. It's got an interesting POV, dramatic layout and great action.Social/Sharing |

Classic triangle formation of the heroes to form the focal point, juxaposed to the dynamic aerial Sauran. Add an optic blast to create eye movement and there you have it. An awesome early 90s Xman cover. No foil necessary!

I have long thought Gammill was terribly overlooked. He's so damn good. Bravo!

Unlimited was a great showcase for artists - you got variety you didn't get on the main titles. Fun cover!
