Description

Lovely, delicately painted cover to the 1979 edition of 'The Saliva Tree' by Brian Aldiss, published by Sphere.

Originally published in 1965 for the centenary of the birth of HG Wells, the book is a collection of steampunk and Lovecraftian tales, clearly evoked by Edwards' very creepy cover.

Les says "This was the cover for a novella by Brian Aldiss published by Sphere. I'm struggling to remember anything about it but the painting shows I was experimenting with very thin paint and trying to build it up in glazes. Quite a painstaking process."
