DescriptionAside from a few ragged back issue copies here and there, I first read most of the Byrne X-Men run through the Classic X-Men reprint series which began in 1986. As great as those stories were, though, some of my favorite tales were the back-up "vignette" stories by Chris Claremont (and later, Ann Nocenti) and John Bolton, with my two favorites being the Wolverine/Nightcrawler team-up in Classic X-Men #4 and the Wolverine/Jean Grey pairing in Classic X-Men #27 (very interested in buying pages #3-10 and 12 from the latter back-up story if anyone has any to sell!)Here's one of a number of Bolton-drawn Classic X-Men pages I own - Wolverine wins a sparring match with Nightcrawler, meaning the Fuzzy Elf has to buy the beer in this great back-up story page from issue #4! Bolton's clean style is reknowned and it creates a slick Wolverine and Nightcrawler page! Best of all there's a real genuine relationship moment showing how these different personalities are like brothers.

Great to see some Bolton finally find its way into your museum - this series had some great covers to go along with those backup stories.

I'm the same as you Gene.. digested those early new X-men stories as kid via the classic X-men.. and therefore just like you those Bolton back ups have a soft spot! Love this one!

I can never get enough of these back up stories that Bolton did. Exception page here as well, great images of Wolverine and Nightcrawler.

Wow! Classic page from Classic X-Men! Loved this back-up story with Wolverine and Nightcrawler! Beautifully drawn and inked by John Bolton, one artist who always delivers! Terrific pick-up, congrats!

I've always loved this relationship between two of my favorite mutants. It's fun seeing Wolvie be a bit of a bully here, but we all know Kurt could absolutely hold his own if pushed.
