DescriptionWhen I think of the year 1986 in comics, I think of Dark Knight Returns, Born Again, the Mutant Massacre, and...the Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters!! While I wasn't the biggest fan of the anthropomorphic animal genre, not even TMNT, the first 5 issues of ARBBH by co-creators Don Chin and Parsonavich (a.k.a. Christopher Parsonavich/Patrick Parsons) were pure comedic gold and rank highly among my very favorite comics of the 1980s.I believe Parsonavich only drew five pen & ink ARBBH covers (issues #1, 2, 4, 3-D #1 and the America the Beautiful TPB); getting one of the three he drew for the main run had long been among my top hobby goals, but, alas, both the artist and his artwork had fallen off the face of the earth. My own attempts to track him down failed, but, one collector persevered and managed to find him and acquire 2 of the covers (and also found out that the complete issue #1 was not available). In any case, I am grateful to the former owner for letting this go, and fulfilling one of my major remaining goals in this hobby - this one really brings me back! Social/Sharing |

Wow this is nostalgic. I remember ALL the Turtle kncokoffs and had them all including these issues (and my favorite, "Pre-Teen Dirty-Gene Kung-Fu Kangaroos") Bravo Clean-Gene!

Congrats on a serious nostalgic trip. This is the one that will make you millions. This and Boris the Bear. Or maybe Fish Police! Miller who? Moore what? ;)

In addition to the great description (of a comic I never heard about) this cover is just terrific. Now to find this story. Beautiful details too

Awesome Gene! To quote John "Hannibal" Smith "I love it when a plan comes together. Nice!"
Congrats on a big check mark for your want list!
