Description

DC Comics Presents was the first #1 issue of a new comic I ever bought. I was so excited that I bought two copies.

I can't tell you that 11-year-old me noticed that José did not pencil #5, but as I grew into recognizing the artists I liked the most, I came to appreciate the dynamic action and layouts Jose brought to those first four issues, the last two of which José inked.

I feel very fortunate to have been able to move quickly to nab this José-inked 9-panel page when it became available, and even more fortunate that, 46 years later, to have been able to get to know José a tiny bit over the last year.

This is page 22, on which Superman dispatches Chemo, a bad guy he took on with the Metal Men in this issue.

A great Chemo page, but the Superman image in the first panel is the real star of this show! Nice one, Tom.
