DescriptionI wanted to pay my respects to the great James Earl Jones (1931-2024), who sadly passed away yesterday aged 93.A titan of both stage and screen, Jones was arguably best known for providing the voices of Darth Vader in the Star Wars franchise (1977-2019) and Mufasa in The Lion King (1994) in a performing arts career that spanned 1953-2021. He made his film debut in 1964's Dr. Strangelove and would go on to feature in The Great White Hope (1970), Roots (1977), Field of Dreams (1989), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Patriot Games (1992), The Sandlot (1993) and much more. Aside from his off-camera work in the Star Wars films, I especially enjoyed Jones playing the villainous Thulsa Doom in Conan the Barbarian (1982) and King Jaffe Joffer in Coming to America (1988), two of my all-time favorite films. Jones reprised his role as King Joffer in the 2021 sequel Coming 2 America, which was his final film role. In honor and remembrance of this great performer, here is another piece of Darth Vader original art ("What do you do?") in my collection from Jeffrey Brown's 2013 illustrated humor book Vader's Little Princess. A touching tribute, and testament to a great actor who was able to infuse so much depth into a voice role.

Perfecto! Fun piece in memoriam of the late great JEJ. You can just hear Vader saying "Errr..." without saying it :) Congrats!

The conspicuous brown boots of the unfortunate rebel poking in from the lower right really makes this work for me. What a great example! And a fitting OA tribute to the late Mr. Jones
