DescriptionSwamp Thing v. 2 #48 was the first issue of Alan Moore's classic run on the title that I bought at my LCS and read back in 1986 (of course, I would later go back and read the run in its entirety), so, this issue has always been the most nostalgic for me. While this is not my first Swamp Thing page, I feel like I've finally found the perfect example for me - the half-splash bottom panel has all of the wonderful elements from the great cover to #48 (my personal favorite), especially the delightfully twisted & terrifying image of Invunche, while the gorgeously detailed third panel evokes comparisons to the similarly excellent #49 cover. The art for this issue was all-Totleben (both pencils & inks), and this page is just sublime! I'm not even sure I "need" another page or cover from the run after getting this one, as this has basically everything I was looking for. Happy 2020, everyone! Social/Sharing |

Heck of a way to end the year - about as good as it gets in the world of Totleben Swamp Thing examples!

“Gorgeous” isn’t a descriptor that can be applied to too many horror pages...unless it was worked on by John Totleben. Congrats!
