DescriptionContinuing from the New Titans #92 p.01 splash I posted yesterday, this is the double page splash that immediately follows. As mentioned in yesterday's post, you can see where Al Vey was struggling with the editorial edict to "Do it like the Image guys!". He clearly attempted to do just that on the Troia figure, but aside from little bits here and there, he inked the rest of the rest of the piece in his own style. Most of the Titans are here, as are most of the Team Titans, which is nice. While I didn't enjoy this particular storyline, I did still enjoy the art and therefore really enjoy this double page splash. Social/Sharing |

Mothers can be difficult. I understand Troia's struggle.

What a clash! Never read this series but Grummett is in full effect here. One can feel the shockwave from these two in battle. So awesome!

The age of the mullet was in full effect with both Dick and Gar taking inspiration from Billy Ray Cyrus. Grummett demonstrated great skill at juggling multiple characters in the shot surrounding the main action, but the highlight to me is the comment from Mirage along with the related footnote.

Ohhh, the collector in me is jumping up and down with glee that you have the opening splash PLUS the ensuing DPS! Magnificent piece!!

Disappointed that they did not continue the starfield cape and hide it here with the energy blast. The whole team is here and it is glorious! Image guys or not, the art does an effective job of highlighting all the best attributes and bringing the needed energy to disguise this Marv Wolfman story.

Well, some people would say I already have, but no, I simply LOVE LOVE LOVE my Grummett art, especially from New Titans! Plus, it's a very good trade off for everyone else, as I've left all the Pérez Titans art to them. 😃

Heh. It's like when you ask your kid to clean their room, and the mess ends up under the rug and pushed into the back of the closet. "Yeah, Mom, I inked it all! Sheesh!!!" I wouldn't have noticed that if not for your description, but I definitely see it now. Seeing them next to each other, it's easy to see which is far superior, too. I love Grummett's angle choice here, it makes this crowded battle scene work well. And I dig the subtle choice to show how the power blast is blocked by Lord Chaos, leaking around his edges. The man knows how to set an interesting scene, that's for sure. Great piece. Congrats!

Yeah, far less "Imageafication" on this (thankfully). Another great Titans page Ruben!

No, your sense of smell is off. But don't worry, you don't have Covid. I simply don't have the complete issue. I do have 14 of the first 16 pages though! 🥰
