DescriptionSince I've now posted 4 pages from this sequence over the past two weeks, I figure, why not just post the rest of the sequence all in the same week? So here I've posted the next two pages that follow the 2 consecutive splash pages I posted yesterday.After facing off with the gargantuan errand boy who he's supposed to hand off the Mento helmet to, Changeling begins having doubts as to whether the deal he struck with errand boy's boss is worth going through with. He decides to reneg on the deal, in the process angering the errand boy who reveals himself to be none other than Plasmus, a member of The Brotherhood of Evil. Although the inking by this point in the series is starting to become a forced pseudo-Image-y approach, I commend Al Vey for holding back and not allowing it to get out of hand. The inking in this issue in particular is actually very nice, in spite of the immense pressure he must have been feeling at the time. His line here is extremely well controlled and complimentary to Grummett's pencils and his use of zip-a-tone, while not heavy, is perfect and gives the finished art a bit of added punch. Punch? Hmmm, is that a Hawaiian Punch jingle I hear in the distance? Social/Sharing |

Again,I much prefer the second page here which is truly spectacular. The Plasmus close up in the firstnpage is especially nice though.

Grummett is Rick solid but Vey really nails the inks here. Bravo!

Does anything say bad guy better than an evil laugh after blasting the good guy and delivering a nasty pun? Plasmus has the routine down cold in the final panel.

This is a great sequence of images. I agree that the inking perfectly complements the tight pencils. Great pickup Ruben!

"Now gif it to me!" Such an incredibile foreshadowing of the bitmap "Graphic Image Format" that would dominate the social media world decades later. Or maybe it's just a colloqial way of saying "give." Either way, another great two page sequence from this issue!

Fun Fact: The .gif file extension used for saving digital image files is actually pronounced "Jif", like the peanut butter!

Another really lovely set of pages, Ruben! Thanks to the tones on both pages, this is my favorite spread of the pages you've posted from this sequence; very cool work! Those last two panels really feel like a couple of Perez Titans panels to me, because of the zipatone and POV. Congrats, Ruben!

Oh, yeahhhhh!!!! Wait...wrong chemical liquid filled spokesperson! Whoops. ;) Luckily, neither of them exploded, so the company wouldn't have to air A Very Special commercial. Need some punch? Suuuuuuurrre...KABOOM! "Oh, the humanity." Plasmus is putting off an evil Thing vibe with the getup. This is a great sequence you're posting, Rubén. And I'm starting to understand why I don't see too many Grummet teen titan pages in the wild ;). Congrats!

But as for you not seeing many Titans pages in the wild, ahem....let me just say that even when I subtract my collection from the total number of pages Grummett produced, there should still be around 3X the amount of pages still floating around out there. So I'm as befuddled as you are in wondering where they all are!

Ha! Buy them all, Rubén, you appreciate his (superb) art more than anyone I've met so far. I think his collectors must be smart enough to keep their heads down and just buy until it's gone. I wish I was that smart about Secret Wars a decade ago...
