DescriptionIn this issue, Starfire and Nightwing are on the outs because she still can't get over the fact that he had sex with Team Titans member Mirage, though only because she purposely used her powers to impersonate Starfire so she could get him in the sack. So never mind that Nightwing had no way of knowing he was getting down with Mirage, Starfire's still pissed about it and blames him!On the page previous to this one, Starfire is out at a comedy club trying to get her mind off of the situation, when Nightwing comes in, pathetically begging her to take him back and stupidly telling her "We belong together. You know you're mine!". Sigh... She tells him to get lost and then she leaves the club herself. A little while later, this page I'm presenting today shows what happens next. I do love me some Kory and I think Wolfman developed her character beautifully over time. Visually speaking, she has always been stunning and I've always gotten a kick out of how gigantic and poofy her hair is portrayed. Grummett does a lovely job of drawing her here and Vey did his usual bang up job inking him. Social/Sharing |

Koriand'r gives a totally new meaning to "bed hair" !! I'm kind of surprised that she bothered to wear a sheet. Puritan tendencies are rubbing off on her.

Ah, the incredibly beautiful Starfire in the outfit I love best in--her birthday suit! For the longest time, I would say that only George Perez could do her justice but Tom does a great job of drawing her very curvy and sensuous. And, Will is only partially right--it isn't Kory who is giving in to puritanical vlaues--it's DC Comics. Great pick-up Ruben!

Clickbait!! Haha. Starfire is such an iconic character with that hair!!! I didn't even notice that she wasn't wearing much. ;)

Well, I'd say this is an unfair fight and that Dick and Starfire should just patch things up, but maybe it would have been better if they didn't. We then could have avoided the horror of the following issue.

Now that is a lovely page. My favorite is panel four, with the zipatone shadow, but I like all the open space here - I guess if you have Kori wandering around, you don't need much else. Looking at how they actually DREW all that hair (and seeing her part in panels 2-5), it made me wonder: have we ever seen Starfire bald? Judging by that part, I would think she had a big Leader-like head... but then how would she sleep so close to the wall/headboard in panel 2?
Reading this back, I believe I may have missed the intended focus of this page.

It's a beauty of a page! Wonderfully illustrated by Grummett.
But Rubén, you are such a tease. How do you know she's nude under that sheet. Plus, this is all wrong anyway - you know she would have got out of bed without wrapping the sheet around herself!

Well firstly, Kory is the tease, not me. Secondly, have you forgotten that issue, I believe during The Judas Contract, where in one panel both she and Dick are suddenly woken and the both sit up in bed, with both of them clearly sleeping in the nude? You KNOW she sleeps in the nude, Miki! Lastly, you're right about the fact that she wouldn't have wrapped the sheet around her. Unfortunately, she also knew the DC censor was watching!

Not just the DC censor, judging by the remarks. I wonder how many mint copies of this exist? All that fanboy drool is bad for pages.

I might actually be jealous of that one. What a great (quiet) page!
We all fell in love with Perez' Starfire but Grummett really made her his own and one could make the argument that he modernized or even visually improved on her original design.
That "poofy hair" is unreal (in a good way) and you can indeed tell he had fun with it.

Grummett just straight up draws a beautiful Starfire. I don't know, kind of reminds of some of the gorgeous Byrne shots of Storm from his renowned run. Here, love the big hair, no irises/pupils, and her face is just sublime. Keep 'em comin', Ruben :) Congrats!
