DescriptionThis page comes from the "Risks Unlimited" series of Fight Comics published in April 1948. It features a wonderful female figure breaking the panels I enjoy so much in Golden Age artwork. (Something Dave Stevens would pay homage to later in his work.) The title page to this story has long been a favorite of mine and locating any page from within this story was very exciting. The estate of Sun Ka is to be passed to his beloved niece, Ting Liu following his recent passing. His son, Suin Chen has other ideas and mistakenly believes to have killed his rival to the fortune. Our hero Rip Carson helps straighten things out with TingÕs Òreturn from the graveÓ. Robert Webb was a long time artist at the Iger Studio working on various Fiction House titles. Since the practice was to not include artistic contributors in the credits, it is difficult to know for certain who provided the inks. They have been attributed to either David Heames or Jack Kamen for this story. Very possible that both men worked on this handling different figures and backgrounds. As a big admirer of Kamen, I like to think he touched this at some point! A thank you to my friend Jeff Singh who allowed this artwork to leave his collection in 2021. Social/Sharing |

This is a great example of some of the creative layouts they did in Fiction House comics. Congratulations on adding it to your collection.

Golden Age art rocks!!!
Agreed Hart!
I like to think about just where this artwork has been and all it has seen in the 74 years since it's creation. So glad it landed into my collection.

Always great to see such classic comic art. So historical, but also so beautiful. Congrats.

Thank you Harry. I have such appreciation for the Fiction House work and the groundwork they laid for the modern art to follow.

Fine panel breaks between the first four are curvy against her back and along her legs to accentuate the length of her figure that is the main focus of the top half of the page.
