DescriptionI began reading and collecting comics after pulling a copy of Captain America #140 off the spinner rack at the local grocery store in 1971. That seemingly meaningless event set me upon the path to a lifelong passion of art and comics. Adding a John Romita page from his amazing run on the title had always been a dream of mine. CAF member, Erik Essington made it possible when he offered this artwork in January 2021. (Thanks again Erik!)Cap needed to be on any page I chose, but equally important was the inclusion of The Falcon. I am a major fan of the Sam Wilson character in his original costume. This action page couldn't be any better for that! Romita's blue pencils underneath, John's signature razor lines, a cityscape background, and Redwing even makes an appearance in the last panel. Just has it all. Now just to locate a Gene Colan page with Sharon Carter on it....This never ends does it? (Carlos DS had this art posted in his incredible CAF gallery after purchasing the page from Will Gabri-EL in 2008. If you also are part of the history of this piece please let me know! It has found a great home now.) Social/Sharing |

John Romita Sr. action sequences with the brush and razor articulates flow and strength of movement with each panel. Each one heightens the stakes and danger in this glorious page!

Fantastic Romita page. He did some great (and somewhat overlooked) work on Cap. A real dream piece!

I love them all Khalil, but have to say that the second panel where the Falcon swings the fire is my favorite of the bunch! As mentioned in the description that original costume of Sam Wilson is how I will always see him.
If the timing was ANY different I never could have afforded to add any Romita Sr. page into my collection. Grateful for this one.

Cap #143 is one of my favorite stories between #100 and #200. Romita was perfect for Captain America. His story telling and dynamism on this page are quite engaging. I echo Marcus's comment about Romita's use of the razor for the lines of movement. I also love the 1970's dialogue. Congratulations!

What a great page with both Cap and the Falcon from a fabulous story! I loved the story and Romita Sr.'s art on Cap. Your description is good read and covers all the angles. I also bought this comic off the spinner, although I don't know recall whether it was at our local 7-11 or downtown tobacco shop. Congratulations!
