DescriptionThis is it. A quintessential Batman piece by Bernie Wrightson.Bernie is one of my favorite artists of all time and Batman is clearly my favorite character so this piece is the perfect marriage of two "ultimates" for me. I have probably seen this image a thousand times, but never thought I'd be lucky enough to have it in my collection. If you google "Wrightson Batman" this is the first image that shows up demonstrating what a perfect example it is of Bernie's trademark style. This piece was originally intended to be published in a Batman portfolio by Bernie in the early '90s that never saw print. An impressive 14 x 22, this piece commands your attention and is larger than life in person. A personal grail and a major achievement for my collection. Thanks Peter! Social/Sharing |

Thanks for the heads up on this piece Daryl! Agree that this is quintessential 'Wrightson Batman'. I love it so much! He keeps to a triangular composition that is simple and to the point: 1) the building 2) the gargoyle 3) the Batman. He evokes the illusion of form through a wonderful use of light and shadow. The forms themselves feel organic by practically bleeding into each other at certain points. His mastery of the fundamentals combined with his passion for beauty and horror make for an otherworldly piece that simply sets him apart from all the rest. Personally, when it comes to 'Wrightson Batmans', I think we both own a couple of the best examples out there.

Great moody piece of the dark knight. Great use of contrast and at that size I am sure it is impressive. Big congrats!

This piece speaks volumes about Wrightson's talent and certainly demonstrates his skill at invoking an emotional response to his artwork. Wrightson's Batman is definitive and you are one lucky individual to own this piece! A+++
