All New Comics Issue 5 Page 2 by Art Helfant (1943) Huge Twice – Up! Little Lady Make-Believe

Note about the scan: the line through the center was caused by the scanning in two pieces and stitching the images together. That line is not actually on the art.

Little Lady Make-Believe is a humor story about a little girl who feels neglected by her parents, goes on an adventure into the city, when she meets a homeless man and they decide to collect the reward for her own return. it is a solid 6 page story full of humor, running, lots of gags, and heart.

Own a piece of Comic Book History. A lot of the art from this era was recycled, trashed, or simply lost to time… Here is a page that I’ve had in my collection for some time. It is from a story featuring the humor character Little Lady Make Believe from ALL NEW COMICS issue 5 Published in 1943.

About the artist:

Art Helfant was an American gag artist. His work appeared as back-up and filler comics in several comic books of the 1940s and 1950s, such as 'Young King Cole', 'Billy the Kid Adventure Magazine', 'John Wayne Adventure Comics' and 'Wonder Woman'. Other artists who made comics based on John Wayne were Ben Brown and Al Williamson.Among his characters are 'Timid Tim', 'Boitram the Boiglar' and 'Heathcliff the Hobo'. – From Lambiek
