DescriptionThere’s no comic artist whose work I appreciate and enjoy more than Alex Toth. He was one of the few true masters of comic art. Every page and every panel that he touched was meticulously thought out. No lines were unnecessary. And the way Toth used sound effects to accentuate action was always brilliant.I’d wanted this particular page for many, many years. Unfortunately both this issue's story, and the second part of the story in issue #419, were both held complete. Issue #418 was finally broken up a few years back and I was able to acquire this page. I'm finally getting around to posting it. It has everything I was looking for in a Toth page - Black Canary in action, great stylistic sound effects, strong lines and the perfect use of bold inks that only Toth could accomplish. I’m thrilled to own it. Social/Sharing |

Would it be hyperbole to call this one of the greatest comic book pages of the Bronze Age? I honestly believe it is. I have coveted this page forever... it is so incredible! Beautiful rendering and storytelling, and perfectly evocative of its era. Kudos!

I'm always surprised when this page changes hands. It is one of the most memorable Toth pages ever, a great Black Canary page, and a master class in sequential action and the effective use of lettering/onomatopoeia.

This is a masterclass in Toth, like the encyclopedia entry on him should have this as the illustration. Five stars and I guess anotherway to put it is: OOOWWOOWUKKKKKK!

A beauty! Is this story the peak of Toth's superhero work?

I have to say I miss the old style of comics from masters like Toth. Today's comics are so slick, but simply not as much fun.

Yeoza Wowza< Gorgeous piece. If I'm not mistaken, Terry Austing had a page or two from this job.

Alex Toth, mostly known for style guides, character designs and storyboards these days, this page is a masterclass, conducted by one of the very best. Dinah never looked more alluring than she does here, as she so fluidly kicks this thug's punk ass! The lettering is just SO very fun...
Congratulations on owning this graphic piece of storytelling perfection.
