DescriptionThe idea for this bizarre series of illustrations comes from the amazing Donald Duck homage Alberto drew for me to celebrate the 85th birthday of the character, D-Zilla, where our Donald got someway blended with Godzilla, a fictional monster, or kaiju, originating from a series of Japanese films.So here's the first of a series where Alberto will put in the blender Donald Duck and fictional characters from Japan, D-Amera. The reference character is Gamera, a fictional monster originating from a series of Japanese films of the same name. First appeared in Noriaki Yuasa's 1965 film Gamera, the Giant Monster, produced by Daiei Film, was intended to compete with the success of Toho's Godzilla film series. Since then, Gamera has become a Japanese icon in his own right, starring in a lot of movies, video games, manga and anime. He is depicted as a massive, fire-breathing, prehistoric monster resembling a turtle, mutated by exposure to nuclear weapons. A striking and vibrantly colored pencil & watercolor illustration by Lavoradori, with D-Amera destroying everything on his path. Please also check the stunning concept prelim. Huge thanks to Alberto!
