DescriptionCover dated Autumn 1993.So if you don’t count the Punisher as Santa Claus page that I posted in December 2024 to celebrate the holidays, this is the first page I’ve posted to CAF since 2023 that isn’t for sale. After spending around two years selling off more than half of my art collection, I’m done selling. That doesn’t mean that I’ll never sell anything again, but I won’t be doing another big batch of 99 cent opening bid auctions on eBay any time soon. To most of you who bought art from me, whether or not you knew it was from me, I thank you. Every penny from those sales was poured into buying other original art that’s more closely aligned with my now better-defined collecting goals. Anyway, I decided at the end of 2023 that I wasn’t going to post on CAF any additional pieces of art from my collection until I was done selling off art week-in and week-out. I also stopped regularly commenting on art posted to the galleries of other collectors since the time spent selling art (listing it, packing it, dropping it off at FedEx, etc.) meant something had to give. Hopefully this post will be my first step back to regularly engaging with people here outside of negotiating the sale of art. As for this piece of art, there was a brief period in the early 1990s when DC Comics made a big push expanding the Green Lantern Corps into multiple series. Green Lantern Corps Quarterly was one such series, serving as an anthology books covering different members of the GLC. This particular page from early in the career of Travis Charest is from the first appearance of Green Lantern recruit Laira Omoto, who went on to appear during Geoff Johns’ tenure on Green Lantern, becoming a member of the Red Lantern Corps. This story had more than one credited inker, but I can safely say that this page was inked by Ray McCarthy since I bought this page from him a few years ago. Social/Sharing |

Great early Charest splash when it was exciting to watch him branch out of Wildstorm. And oh, GLCQ offered some great quality material.
(Welcome back Michael ;)

Charest did the greatest page I'll ever own
Can't live for Omoto, Omoto's much too strong
I'll burn my line out
Before art sells out
I wanted more
Than life could power grant green
More by the Corp
Of saving page
Charest did the greatest page I've ever owned
Can't wait for tomorrow, I might not have that goal
I'll tear my art out
Before I sell out
Ring giveth scars that never forget
I auctioned hard to cleanse these regrets
My art listings were bruised and restrained
MacCarthy inks
Charest did
Charest did
Today's the greatest day, ooh
Ooh, yeah, yeah, ooh

A very nice, early Charest page. If it wasn't for the lantern emblem on her boob though, I'd think she was Psylocke! Congratulations on doing a fine job curating your collection, Michael, and welcome back to posting NFS art!

Thanks! Good observation about Psylocke - no doubt Jim Lee had a similar view since Charest ended up at Wildstorm a short time later.

Thanks, Paul! You were easily one of the best people who I dealt with while selling art!

I'm a total Nextel man, even if that means my phone hasn't been able to connect to a network for a decade.

Doing Jim Lee better than Jim Lee! Loved Charest early work and this is a stunning example!
