DescriptionEDITED to swap in revised version - now complete with Baron Blitzkrieg's chest emblems!New commission: the latest issue of my Golden Age Team-Up Project series (The Brave And The Bold #212), pairing Batman with Starman. Art by Bambos Georgiou, adapted from the cover to Super-Villain Team-Up #7, original art by Rich Buckler and Klaus Janson. 1942 - and as Batman returns to the Batcave following the events of last issue, he's handed a report by Alfred from the Ground Observer Corps. One of the civilian members had spotted what appeared to be a missile launched from Gotham Docks, and heading upstate. Realising that this might well be a sighting of Baron Blitzkreig making his escape, Batman jumps into the Batmobile and heads off, confident that he knows where the Baron is headed! Arriving at his destination, Batman's suspicions are borne out - the Baron has returned to the upstate mansion owned by a Nazi sympathiser which had been the villains' headquarters earlier, and the two police guards posted have both been knocked out! Entering through a high window, Batman sees Baron Blitzkrieg contacting the Nazi high command by radio, and jumps him! The two heroes tussle, but the Baron breaks free and escapes from the mansion, with Batman in hot pursuit. The villain looses dogs to attack the Gotham Guardian, but Batman is still able to get a few punches in --- and as Baron Blitzkrieg prepares to flee, his aerial escape route is cut off by the arrival of Starman! Using his gravity rod to pin the villain down, Starman reveals that he had been at the upstate observatory of astronomer Ted Knight (his secret identity) when he'd spotted the Baron flying towards the mansion, and after alerting other All-Star Squadron members, flew in to tackle the villain himself. Meanwhile, Baron Blitzkrieg grabs hold of a lump of masonry and hurls it at the Astral Avenger, knocking him senseless for a few seconds and allowing the Baron to soar into the air! Batman refuses to let him get away again, though, and makes a near-suicidal leap from the mansion's causeway to catch the Baron in mid-air, pummeling the villain. The Nazi flies higher, though, and drops Batman back to earth - from a height that will surely kill him! Just as things looks hopeless, however, Starman recovers, catching the falling hero and using the gravity rod to once again snare the villain, dragging him back to earth as the two All-Star Squadron members land. Batman adminsters the coup de grace - a right hook which lays the villain out - and as Baron Blitzkrieg is restrained, the "Axis Sabotage" plot is brought to a close! Coming next - the first-ever Brave & The Bold Annual, teaming Batman with several heroes, in an adventure set in 1945! Social/Sharing |

I like that the castle setting is kept as Doom's castle fits in with the World War II era Europe look.

I really have to hand it to you for coming up with such a clever and unique commission series. I love cross-over books like BRAVE and BOLD from DC and all the others. You really get a triple-kudo for not only continuing the B&B covers but ALSO tying it to an homage of other cross-over covers from the past AND connecting it to a multi-issue theme of golden age heros vs a common villain. Wow...great concept.
If I were wearing a hat right now, I would take it off to you.

Thanks - glad you're enjoying it.
They won't necessarily all be based on crossover covers, but you should be seeing more entries in this series for some time yet...
