DescriptionA pair of consecutive pages from a masterpiece. If I were to set aside my MICRONAUTS and ROM fetishes, I would have to point to Byrne's 'Everybody vs. Galactus' trilogy in Fantastic Four 242-244 as my favorite story arc in all of comics. I reviewed those issues as I was picking this pair up, and they still hold up remarkably well. Byrne was really hitting on all cylinders, crafting a tight, unforgettable storyline while replicating the New York City ambiance flawlessly. This is Manhattan, drip-distilled into Comic Book form. Still stings a bit to see the Twin Towers featured so prominently in the story. Moreover, these two pages are a moment in Comics History which still have repercussions to this day. If Galactus had been allowed to expire, he would not have gone on to consume the Skrull Homeworld shortly thereafter, and the recent 'Secret Invasion'... would never have happened. (Along with every other appearance from the Big G since the 80's, of course. That was just one major event that comes to mind.) Social/Sharing |

Wonderful addition, I cannot get over how well drawn those issues are. The added bonus of the Avengers making an took the arc to a whole 'nother level.

Fantastic pages! Seeing these two pages on sale was the first time in my collecting experience where I actively tried to figure out a way to make the financial math work to buy both of them. Looks like they found a great home!

I have to admit that I saw them for sale and totally didn’t understand them at all contentwise and structurally. Now that you show them together I realize that they are consecutive pages (funny, I know) and they are really beautiful! Great!! Congratulations!

Matthias, you have to track down FF #242-244. One of the greatest Marvel stories ever told.

As a major Byrne and specifically Galactus fan..this is a major moment in comic history asnd beautifully drawn as imagine the great all powerful Galactus’s life hinged on the scientific know how of Richards’and his compassion human compassion saving this Galactic being who when we consider how powerful he is all of Silver Surfer’s might is like one single cell of Galactus’s power and yet here we see a being of that magnitude about to expire saved by us who he would think of as beneath him..How strange life is and well these pages show it all..Great great back to back purchase!
