DescriptionCheck out this stunning variant cover for Moon Knight Annual #1 by Nic Klein! Beautifully painted in rich blues and blacks, it depicts Moon Knight dropping down from the rooftops under a bright full moon. His arms extend away from his body, a crescent in each hand, and his cape billows out like glowing white wings to slow his descent. I love the rich blue and black colors on this painting, they make the white of Moon Knight’s costume and cape seem to glow on the page. The art is by Nic Klein, a German artist who's worked for Marvel on titles like Winter Soldier, Captain America and Doc Savage. He was recently named one of Marvel's Stormbreakers, the new generation of top Marvel artists. He is currently building quite a reputation working on Marvel's Thor. He doesn’t do a lot of color work, but as you can see here, he really should. I’m blown away by his artistry on this cover and I'm delighted to add it to my collection. I've seen a lot of amazing Moon Knight covers, but this one is hands down my favorite ever! I love how he glows!! Really stunning, Bill, and worthy of your fantastic collection. Congrats!!

Wow, this is so different from your typically colored original cover art. I can honestly say that this is the first and only time that I've seen Moon Knight either completely bathed in or emanating moonlight and the shade of blue used is very bold indeed! This is one that would really jump off the wall if properly framed.

It's a clever and creative artist who can imagine a strikingly new approach to a 47-year old character, and still make it seem like a perfect reflection of what makes Moon Knight unique and exciting... a beautifully realized work!

Blinding. Those crescents have grown over the years. It's easy to focus on the figure but the artist did not skimp on doing the backgrounds.

There's no other way to describe this piece, than "luminous." I'm old school--I prefer pen and ink Moon Knight pieces. This is one of the few MK color pieces I've seen that just works...and works beautifully. Nic nailed it and congrats to you for adding this to your collection.

That's not a moon...Heh, excuse the cross-reference, but I love how he drew Moon Knight as if he was a glowing moon, too. Klein made a beautiful cover here, with what looks like blue washes (?), and ink washes, and loads of technique. There are so many little things to love here. Awesome cover! Watch out below

With MK achieving greater prominence than ever before thanks to the show, we've been getting some of the best MK art to go along with that. IMO, two of those covers belong to Nic. This is one of them. Congrats!

Ooof! An absolute STUNNER of a piece; one of those "shake your head, mouth agape in disbelief" covers that is so incredibly, literally blindingly brilliant that you just have to sit and stare at it. They say that the best covers are the ones that make you buy the issue and see what's going on inside, but not in this case: I want to buy the issue and never open it, so I don't waste time looking at anything but this cover. :) I love how the black smoke "cages" the moon at the top of the page here (as well as the "business" of the TV antennas) and how it all works to narrow the focus of the viewer's eye and channel it more smoothly down into the alley with Moon Knight. An absolute corker of a cover, Bill! Incredible! Congrats!

The glow effect is pure magic. Marvelous transisitons. Layout superb. A piece far more sophisticated than referenced realism.
