Almost no one cares about the Western genre anymore, in any form of media/entertainment, but I love it. I also love seeing Mack brush this one out, as it provides something different from the usual painted stuff I'm so used to seeing from him. A very lovely piece!

Looks like you haven't watched Yellowstone or the spinoff 1883 or Monarch. Yeeehawww! Mack's drybrush is as dry as a tumbleweed.

There's always a little show called The Mandalorian that seems to use a lot of cowboy tropes.

Believe it or not, Marcus, I haven't had the time to catch that series although everyone is saying how great it is.

I love the split-brush effect Mack employs on some of those lines. With relatively little means, he adds a great deal of movement with his brush work.

Many thanks, Rob! So good to hear from you - and from one learned in the field as well. I trust that you are keeping well.

Wow, what a cool pairing of artist & character! I never imagined seeing a Western piece in Mack's distinctive, delicate style.

Many thanks, Brian. In fairness though Rubén does have a point. Westerns aren't as popular as they used to be.

What a fantastic choice of character for David to draw (and his beautiful brushwork absolutely fits this to a "T"...). I love the simple shapes here that add so much (the semi-circle sun, the belt and holster) and allow the viewer to really fall into the mask, hat, and gun details... An incredible, special, unorthodox piece. Fantastic choice of Mack commission - what a beauty! Congrats, CAB!
