DescriptionThe Two-Gun Kid is such a favorite character that I have had many artists draw him. And it never ceases to amaze me how the same character can be interpreted in so many different as well as creative ways. This particular piece - by Eiji Shiroi (she is such an accomplished artist) - is both striking and beautiful (with the Kid's horse Thunder in the background: a very pleasant surprise for me when I received this fabulous piece of artwork). It's done in watercolor and (not surprisingly perhaps) speaks from both the East and the West. And it looks even more amazing in person. Many thanks to Eiji and to Yoshi who helped to arrange this commission so seamlessly. My first piece of artwork posted in this New Year.A little postscript I should have mentioned a long time ago: the version of the Two-Gun Kid I like in his alter ego of Matt Hawk is originally from Boston (although he settled in Tombstone) - but that isn't why I like the character! Please, come to Boston for the Springtime
I'm stayin' here with some friends, and they've got lots of room
And you can sell your paintings on the side-walk
By a café where I hope to be workin' soon
Please, come to Boston

I'm afraid that I left my heart behind in Boston. But I'm not in Tombstone either! Happy New Year, my friend!

Many thanks, Tyler. Indeed, Eiji's style integrates the best from the East and the West.

Wonderful Job on TG Kid...the color in the forefront with the muted Horse works well.

A rare mix of manga and westerns by Eiji Shiroi! Most of the western tales would normally be told in Samurai stories as they also embody the lawless time where only a man's own nobility matters.

Many thanks, Marcus. It is a rare mix indeed and well exceeded my expectations. The Manga influence is really nice but not overdone.

The Eastern influence is certainly evident. Which makes the piece even more unique and more fun. Love how the colored figure stands out from the whiteness of his steed.

I love the Kid's pose. There's a lot of movement in it. I also never imagined I'd enjoy a Manga-esque style for the Western genre, but this once certainly works very nicely!

Many thanks, Rubén. Yes, Eiji managed to find the correct balance - it is still a Western but with sufficient Manga influence to make it a unique rendition of the character himself.

Horses have always been the greatest companion of the Western hero. Thunder steals the show in the commission.

What an exquisite piece! Her use of color is amazing. The cowboy pops, but the horse is just as noticeable.

Many thanks, Tina. Yes, her use of color is so skilful and, as mentioned, the entire piece is a delicate balance of both East and West.
