DescriptionI've been looking for a great Alex Maleev Silver Surfer for a while and admiring all the fine examples of his work on CAF. So when I was offered this amazing piece I could not pass it up. It was well worth the wait, that's for sure.Alex calls this one his "Bruce Lee stance". Be like water. 12x16 Watercolor & pencil. Social/Sharing |

Really fun like he's surfing over the clouds! The crescent moon is like a curl that's part of his trail. Maleev's Surfer pieces are popular as they can be taken out of the comics context to represent so much more!

This painting is made by the clouds and the moon. The colors really make the Silver Surfer pop as a figure. Beautiful.

I've been greatly enjoying all the color Silver Surfer pieces Maleev has been producing lately, but this may be my favorite of the bunch. Truly amazing and so unique!

That background is just some really sublime stuff. A myriad of colors, and a character into itself along with SS. Congrats!

Holy moley, Josh - this is incredible. I have posted before that I think Alex's -true- passion is to draw brain-meltingly beautiful landscapes or architecture... and then maybe find some way to fit a superhero in there to "pay the bills" (as it were), but the usage of the Surfer (and the history and karmic/psychic imprint the character brings) allows another natural (yet human-based) element to add to these glorious studies. It's brilliant, and all fits together seamlessly. (I showed your piece to my wife and she says this is her new favorite. :) ).
Letting your eye slowly drift from the bottom of this piece to the top - working up from the black, lazily through the clouds, and then shifting into blue, then purple - generates a tangible emotional response in me. Never mind "shine"; this thing -resonates-. Sensational piece, Josh; simply superb.
