Description

The delightful and generous Lance Suarez gifted Sheri & I two Morrie Turner strips of Wee Pals that he thought we would enjoy. This one highlights Nipper, an African-American boy who always wears a blue or grey American Civil War kepi who Turner based on himself as a child and has a fun play on soul food. It also features Oliver and Pablo.

Wee Pals was an American syndicated comic strip about a diverse group of children, created and produced by Morrie Turner. It was the first comic strip syndicated in the United States to have a cast of diverse ethnicity, dubbed the "Rainbow Gang". The strip ran from 1965 until Morrie’s passing in 2014. Wee Pals is great! The first intergrated strip that Morrie pioneered.

A little strip of history. Fantastic, and I think before Traivis and Manix, Lance may have had Morrie working in the basement for a while.
