DescriptionHow's this one for a late 80's, nostalgic sweet-spot?New Mutants Annual 5 was the first issue of NM that Rob Liefeld ever worked on. He would go on to have an epic run on the series, introducing Deadpool, Cable etc. In the back of the issue there were a few pinups, one being of the full team. Speaking to Rob recently, he confirmed that this pinup was the first time he ever drew the full team in one image. This (and the Wolverine 8 Liefeld back cover elsewhere in my gallery) have been buried in a collection since 1993. A large part of the joy of this hobby is to be able to still discover buried treasures like this. I'm glad to be able to show this piece the light of day so everyone can get that sweet nostalgic feel. Social/Sharing |

Anyone who wasn't collecting comics when Liefeld hit the scene in the late 1980s cannot understand what a jolt he was to the system, and his two Atlantis Attacks annuals were where fans really started clamoring for more. A historic piece!
