Lee/Kirby firing on all cylinders! This represents a lot of Marvel lore for Thor and for those in the credits at that special time when the universe took shape and everyone including the fans felt important.

The Chick Stone inks are so outstanding on this piece! A classic splash and beautifully drawn and embellished. I'll leave it at that!

When people talk about this page, they'll probably say something like "Hey, did you see that killer Kirby splash that Chris K just posted?" As if that was all it was, a Kirby splash. But every creator/craftsman listed on this page is a true comics legend. And all of their contributions together are what make this sublime example a museum quality gem for the ages. Take good care of it and congratulations my friend.

I really have a soft spot for those old 2up splashes and this is a great one! Peak Kirby, defined Stone inks, and it's a birth page, too!

Great looking splash. I do like the credits alot, fun stuff. Crazy perspective only Kirby and a handful of others could pull off.

Thor seems as focused on controling the power of his hammer as he is on addressing the threat posed by GG. Really interesting graphical elements everywhere on the page and the inking is so tight. The dynamic poses and rightward leaning Gargoyle make me want to turn the page and reread this classic story!

Also I feel like a history of the 1960s design class will study this page in the future - just the combo of the over the top lettering, all the text boxes, the angle of the characters, the buildings in the bg, all of it adds up like a Milton Glaser or Saul Bass pop-art production. Really lovely.

Phenomenal Thor page one splash by the King! Love everything about this splash--From the poses of the Grey Gargoyle and Thoir to the detailed cityscape behind them. Even the the Title lettering has a cool Silver Age look and feel. This one has it all!
