From the Eisner estate via Scott Eder at OAX:

Interestingly, the text in the final piece is changed. The draft work says "Yesterday, a poor Rabbi" while the final, published page says "Yesterday, a poor tenant".

Tenant is more fitting than Rabbi. Nice piece from one of the all-time greats!

Demonstrates the unhealthy obsession of looking up to people with more money than yourself. It still happens today as human nature and Eisner finds a way to present it succinctly.
