Description

I met Paolo Grella a few months ago at Tramlabulle, and was quite surprised that his work had never crossed my radar before. His style aligns perfectly with my aesthetic tastes, and he's in the neighbourhood! I picked the stunning monk [which you have previously seen] from his portfolio, and subsequently this commission was set up.

To my delight, he already had a hunch about which character I had in mind, was familiar with [and interested in] Morpheus and had a vision for the piece. When he sent me the first concept drawing, I was utterly astonished, but nothing could have prepared me for the final piece that left me completely awestruck.

The piece portrays Morpheus with such an enchanting grace and allure, emerging from a turbulent sea with his majestic black wings spread wide, evoking a powerful and captivating presence that truly captures the character's essence. Simultaneously, his face serves as a poignant reflection of the deep sadness that resides within him.

I adore the colours and the atmosphere of the piece, and the feelings it invokes. What's more, I feel that it's no coincidence that the scene bears a striking resemblance to a very iconic one [and one of my favourites] from the books.
