DescriptionWhen Chris Stevens was announced as a returning guest at the second annual OAX, I knew I would want him to draw me a Transformer. Chris has a methodical and technical approach to his work, be it building beautifully thought out & built up color masterpieces or his pencil & ink convention sketches. His table was the first I visited! I debated between Beachcomber and Ultra Magnus but since I had already arranged for Maxi Dallo to draw me a Beachcomber I opted to have Chris tackle the City Commander! On Sunday, I checked in with Chris and the piece wasn't ready but he was very apologetic and I told him not to worry about it, and that if he had some other remarques to do while at the show, get those done and I'd be fine with it being shipped to me after the show. That is exactly what happened and Chris got this completed the week after the show and sent it my way quickly! Man am I glad he took it home where he could create this meticulously crafted Ultra Magnus. He told me he loves drawing Transformers but also could never be on a TF book because it would take him way too long to draw each panel. Chris really does put his all into whatever level of piece you are getting from him, be it a remarque, convention sketch or fully rendered color wall power masterpieces. To top it off, he and his wife are a joy to talk with. Two incredibly kind people that make it so very easy to want to continue supporting in any way I can! Let's hope Chris is on that 2026 guest list too!! YouTube Unboxing Video: https://youtu.be/xqqo5wH1xsc?si=kkGkohw_078yUOcqSocial/Sharing |

Great piece man. Chris' lines are so tight and impeccable. He gets a lot of attention for his huge wall power full colored masterpieces but for me I much prefer his black and white work where the raw talent of his illustrating shines like it does here. Good call letting him go home with it and take his time on it, worked in your favor I'd say! congrats.

I'm so used to his organic line work that I sometimes forget how excellent he is on something more linear.

His Transformers #12 cover is killer. Stevens rolls out the same methodical linework here for Ultra Magnus!

You explained it in the description, but I came here to say... that's not Beachcomber!

Honestly, I don't really even understand why commission collectors bother to get con commissions, when at-home commissions provide infinitely better quality pieces. If it's about the experience of arranging it directly with the artists face to face, then I can understand that. But otherwise? At-home all the way! Great piece, dude!
