Description

I started collecting art because..well, I love comics and the art represents the emotional connection I have to the stories. The unexpected thing that happens for many in this hobby is the friendships that are made along the way through the common love of comics and art. It’s the stories we share with one another as we learn the depths of each others nostalgic roots in the comics and art. I love hearing about what attracts people to the art that they buy and it was in that vein that I decided to start recording videos for YouTube to share my stories on the why’s behind my art pickups. The more you put into this community, the more you will get out of it. More friends, more stories, more appreciation for more and more artists!

I say all of that to say this…Derek Crabbe, The Professor…what a wonderful representation of the kindness within the hobby! Derek and I share many comics interests, but I think that is true of anyone and Derek, given his vast comics knowledge!

I was happy to finally meet Derek at OAX and to my surprise he gifted me this awesome piece of art. Derek is a huge Transformers fan and through my CAF posts and videos Derek knew of my love for the character of Beachcomber. I was absolutely floored by this kind gesture and this piece definitely holds a special place on my desk given its origins in kindness! I’m reminded daily of not only Derek’s kindness, but what this hobby is ultimately about, the people within it.

You can tell that this is a Beachcomber fan to a Beachcomber fan piece! Those eyes contain The Professor's mapping out of the entire Cybertronian history!
