DescriptionAnother lucky pickup from Jeff Moy's most recent claim show! This one is an excellent showcase of some of the things that made the Reboot Legion truly shine - namely, the characters of Triad and R.J. Brande. For context, one of Triad's three selves has been brutally attacked, leaving her in a coma, and unable to reintegrate with her sisters. This entire issue is focused on Triad's past and personalities, and it's revealed that unlike almost everyone else on her homeworld, each of her three selves has their own personality. This is viewed as a kind of mental illness or defect, and Triad ends up forcibly committed to a mental hospital until she manages to escape, and is then given a secretary job by R.J. Brande. Due to a misunderstanding, Saturn Girl is worried that Brande - now the Legion's financier - somehow became angry with Triad after he learned about her past. Here we learn the truth: he was furious at how poorly the doctors had treated her, and wound up essentially adopting her so she wouldn't have to return home.I love how well this page showcases Brande's character, and how much he clearly means to the members of the Legion. He's everyone's father figure (even to the Legionnaires he hasn't adopted!), and I think this moment between him and Saturn Girl, where she's just so relieved and glad that he's on Triad's side, is one of the sweetest moments from the whole series. Their interactions in the bottom panels are the main reason I wanted this page (but of course, it doesn't hurt that Brainy makes an appearance, too!). Art-wise, I think this page is an excellent example of how well Jeff Moy draws facial expressions. Imra's delighted relief in the bottom left panel and Brande's bewilderment in the bottom right are standout examples, for sure. I also like getting to see the attention to detail, here: Imra's earrings were drawn too large, initially, so they were covered over and re-drawn to the correct size. It's the little things like that which make Jeff's art such a delight to look at! Social/Sharing |

Another nice. The last two panels with Imra's expressions are pure gold!
