DescriptionStar Wars: Empire #31 Pg. 6Art (pencils) by Joe Corroney Written by Scott Allie Kicking off Star Wars month on the Dark Horse Comics side of the force, with this page from Star Wars: Empire issue 31 by Joe Corroney. This issue was released in May of 2005. My best Star Wars pal Jeff Wedding gifted me this page last fall, when he happened to be on the east coast for a trip. We met up for lunch at one of my favorite local restaurants, and then hit up a comic shop near me and both found some cheap goodies for ourselves. A fun day also commemorated by us gifting each other each a page of comic art. If you missed what I gifted him that day, you can check it out over in Jeff's gallery HERE I guess it figures that an archeologist gives me a page with a dinosaur race in Star Wars on it! They are called "The Tiss'shar", a species of predatory sentient therapod reptiles from the planet Tiss'sharl. On this page, it's a scene where their President is undergoing an assassination attempt. This book was shot/colored for publication entirely based on Joe's highly detail pencil work. No inking necessary! You can also see a prelim page along with the final published page in the additional images. Thanks again Jeff and Happy Star Wars Month! Social/Sharing |

Walking, talking dinosaurs that wear hats similar to those worn by many Asian peasants, that can also fire man-made weapons, have infiltrated the Star Wars Universe? Although my first instinct is to say that Star Wars comics may have officially jumped the dinosaur, my 2nd instinct is to remember how much I love dinosaurs (and Asian peasants!) and also that I really enjoy all the Star Wars art Corroney has produced!

No one told me there were machine gun wielding dinosaurs in Star Wars!

Woo hoo! This is the May! I remember when Joe was drawing this issue. I knew I was going to need to grab some Star Wars dino pages. This was the issue Joe also got to do the cover, and used the Batman layout for Darth Vader that he always planned to use if he ever got the chance at DC. Although he swapped the bats for TIEs.

Cool Jurassic Wars page. I would love to see a light saber battle between a couple T-Rex Jedis with their little arms! 🦖

I have nightmares each week about the art days in May
One phone call from you and my Empire world was changed
Trust Scott you betrayed, confusion that's still Tiss'shar
You took everything I loved and crushed it in between your fingers
And I doubt you ever think about the damage that you did
But I hold on Corroney's pencils like my Jeff depends on it
My one dino love, now I held it to this month
And a treasured splash every time that my gift has got my love

Is that a crossover between Jurassic Park and SW?
In any case, this is a 10 years old wet dream :)

Happy Star Wars month, Kavi! This is a great way to kick off the celebration. Joe's traditional work is fantastic, and Mr Wedding gives the best gifts.
This is the Jurassic World/Star Wars crossover everyone wants.

The cool factor of any art increases by a good 50% with dinosaurs ( or ninjas)! Awesome!
