Description

Another gorgeous David Wright �lovely� from his run on The Sketch Magazine, this one entitled 'Miranda'. I'd guess that Wright found Miranda particularly fetching as this stunning composition almost smolders with sensuality. Dark hair, downcast eyes, warm tones, and gossamer fabric that barely conceals his subject's breasts - Mr. Wright made a great effort to present this model as beautifully as he could.

This piece was a pin-up included in the February 6, 1946, edition of The Sketch Magazine, the British illustrated weekly journal (primarily a society magazine) that ran for almost 3,000 issues from 1893 to 1959.

This piece was also featured on page 94 of Terry Parker�s �Sirens: The Pin-Up Art of David Wright�, the definitive examination of David Wright�s commercial illustration and pin-up work.

This was the age when Carmen Miranada dominated the scene with her smoldering exotic colorful look and dance moves that lit up the silver screen. While not as outwardly flamboyant, this model still sets hearts afire underneath a quiet outward persona.
