Another Gibbons beauty! The detail, dynamic composition, and flawless execution really set these pages apart. They just don't make 'em like this anymore.

This is such a fun piece to look at, you gotta believe that the artist had a great time making it. Just too good!

If there was a hot toys market back then, this big and bold rumbling design from this page alone would have been enough for a sculptor to go off and make it.

Powerful early Ro-Busters piece by on of their earliest Brit artists.Sad to see Mek-Quake so small and frustrated but his big time soon came with the glorious A.B.C Warriors also in the Pages of 2000AD ! Great addition to your collection !

That top panel is a great example of why Gibbons is a legend.

True. The composition is lovely, and it really conveys a titanic contest between two colossal, heavy machines. But with Gibbons, it always looks as though it must have been easy to put it together.

Yes, the period when Pat Mills was not not writing in full lecture mode was much superior. Hide the lecture in the story folks! Not make the lecture the story! Poor old Pat. Wonder who he is ranting at now.

I missed out latching onto Dave Gibbons as I did only when he started work at DC with the Creeper and Green Lantern because he was every bit as good in a black and white medium with these variety of tones in 2000AD. Looks like lovely Gibbons lettering too.

Wicked cool.  Gibbons just rumbles with the best of them, doesn't he?  Love all the different tones and shadings he uses here (the crosshatched buildings in the corner of panel one are -SWEET-!), and panels 2&3's chiaroscuric dynamism is, like, Steve Rude good.  Beautiful work - great add, Paul!  I'd love to find reprints of these stories; your description really sells them as something with some unexpected emotional weight / impact.  Lovely, dynamic page!
