Description

...on December 5, 2003... on eBay... I was outbid for the original cover of SUPEGIRL #79 by Ed Benes... the winning bidder's price was $1,675 (which by today's standards is a great price and I'm not sure who won that cover or where it is now)... but shortly after I was outbid... I was able to get this cover recreation commission from Ed Benes and Alex Lei from their representative and paid $725 for this piece... It has 35 characters on it... and I did compare this cover to the original, and it's a recreation that is almost exact, but with some slight variances to some of the background characters (minor details such as poses, positioning, facial expressions)... but it is my favorite cover, so upon losing the auction, when offered the opportunity for a recreation at a fraction of the orignal cover's sale price, I had to buy this... and now that Ed Benes has since gained tremendous popularity... I'm glad I got it, since I don't think he'd have time to ever do such a detailed commission as this with his busy schedule.

You are so very lucky. I love this piece. If dreams could come true, I'd have Ed draw the same thing with a JLA/Avengers theme.

That's the best move you have ever done ! This piece if you ask Ed to do it it would be 6k and you need to wait at least 2 years for it IF YOU LUCKY that is !

That was a tough auction..I was part of it..and i have pages from that storyline framed on my walls..but that is one heck of a consolation prize...
