DescriptionOne of my all-time favorite images of Lady Death by the late, great Steven Hughes. Here's some history on the piece:I previously owned this piece around 1999-2000. With the help of a good friend it was purchased directly from Steven and Barbara Hughes and remained in my collection until around 2004 when I was forced to sell after falling on hard times. The piece sold again on Heritage in 2017. After working with the current owner here on CAF I was able to reacquire the piece. Thanks to Chris Swartz for working with me. I'm very happy to have her home, it's a striking image and one of the earliest Lady Death cover pieces having been drawn the same year as The Reckoning #1. The piece has always given me a Heavy Metal vibe and still holds up as a classic Lady Death image. Social/Sharing |

Finally! You did well with this piece Frank - even though it wasn't your primary goal, you never took it off the backburner until the time was right.
Now don't screw it up by selling it again. You have plenty of blood and organs to sell off if times get rough.

Wow! So awesome that this one has boomerang'ed back home. That had to have been a tough call to let her go. Excellent to see the re-aquisition. Such an epic image!

Kahlil Gibran once said, If you Love someone, let them go, for if they return, they were always yours! And I am happy the Calendar Cover returned home! 1400

I would agree: one of the most majestic, powerful Lady Death pieces by Hughes that I've seen. In the art world, there are few things that can top the emotion of winning a coveted piece on auction - but getting a long-lost piece of art back home is one of those few things that can beat it. What a great cover - congrats on getting in back!
