Description

From her 1973 origin in Adventure Comics, where Sheldon Mayer and Tony DeZuniga tapped into the film noir, mystery, and crime drama genres; to her redefinition and integration into the mystical realms of the DC universe in Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean’s 1993 mini-series, I’ve always considered Black Orchid to be a fabulous character concept. I asked Luke to use Bob Oksner’s cover art as a starting point and to take inspiration from McKean’s atmospheric visuals. This was the result.

It has that dark edge and channels the Tony DeZuniga pencil commission style.
