DescriptionI've long been astonished by Tom's published and commission work, an appreciation that originally stemmed from the mind-bogglingly amazing commissions acquired by Doctor Fantastic and his brother Jim...and don't get me started on the Batman vs. Bane piece in Brian Jones' collection (it's a tour de force). Anyway, when Tom briefly opened up his commission list at the beginning of December, I pounced on the opportunity to finally acquire a piece from him. Therefore, it's fitting that Tom serendipitiously chose to feature DD in a mid-pounce like pose with his sublimely clean linework. Tom's inking prowess is on full display here as he deftly and masterfully brings each line to supremely-precise life....oh those delicate lines! The guy must truly ink with a strand of hair plucked from an angel or something. Wow! The whispy artistic pattern that he surrounded ol' hornhead with is so unique and fascinatingly complex. Raney is a huge talent. Here daredevil looks like he is floating on the air. And look at that expression. Raney genius!

You could never go wrong with an art piece of the best character. Tom Raney has done some excellent work. I really like the use and placement of cross hatching. What I love most is the really thin strokes that created a great "whispy" effect.

I stole Raney's angel-hair brush, but I can't work it like he does.
