How do I know this was a Saturday strip? 'cause the following Sunday strip sold fairly recently, too. Funny how the stoytelling between the two strips barely moves the plot along. Such is the redundancy of newspaper comic stories, vast amounts of recap filler.

I'm not much of a newspaper strip collector, it's just this particular piece had enough Ship Porn to catch my eye. And Kane's confident linework is always stunning.

Per Wiki: "The daily strip was unique in that initially it was two-tier: each daily was twice as large as the normal daily strip. This format allowed artist Kane great flexibility in layout. Many papers were reluctant to devote so much space to a single strip. It changed to a single tier as of July 30, 1979."

Very cool Gil Kane art! His entry into the space opera genre in the wake of the Star Wars phenomenon was high quality. A true classic of the time full of imaginative design and ways to show how he moved the camera around like a cinematographer.
