DescriptionI knew that Francesco Artibani (writer) and Lorenzo Pastrovicchio (artist) were working on a story for the 90th birthday of Mickey Mouse (November 2018), and the story would see the trio (Mickey/Goofy/Donald) with the classic (30's) appearance.That was enough info for me to commission a piece based on the story, even though it was still a few months before being published, that would include our heroes and all the villains. The story is about Mickey/Goofy/Donald working as chimney sweeps, and bumping into a mystery... luxurious villas are disappearing! While working, and going to the wrong address, they accidentally discover the secret lab that hosts the villains responsible for the disappearing of the villas, Pete and Professors Ecks, Doublex, and Triplex. The professors created a ray capable to reduce or increase the size of objects/people, thus making robberies very easy. You can then imagine how the story will end... Even though it took more time than expected to be completed (should have been ready in time for Mickey's birthday), what matters the most to me is the final result and I've got to say the illustration is simply amazing. Looks like a cartoon!!! Set in the secret lab with all major characters in the story, the circular composition keeps your eyes glued to the illustration, it's dynamic and marvelously balanced, the characters are beautifully designed (you can see that Lorenzo truly loves Gottfredson) and the ink wash work and effects are simply outstanding. I'm posting it now for Donald's 85th birthday, I love his classic look! Please find in the additional images a scan of the prelim and some close-ups. This is a gorgeous piece. Every time I visit your gallery, I see something special. I love the Disney characters and who knows, maybe I'll have to find myself a piece someday to add to my collection. Congrats!
