Karate Kid vs. Mangog by Kevin Castaniero and Simon Gough

I'm pretty sure that the first time I saw Kevin Castaniero's work was here on Comic Art Fans. Kevin does some killer commission work, and I was impressed. So I looked him up online, found some of his comics work, and started following him on social media. And not too long after that, I set up a commission with him. I gave Kevin a couple different choices for opponents with this "Karate Kid vs." piece, and he went with the monstrous Mangog! And Kevin went all-out here! I love the different motion effects of Mangog's�attacking arm and tail, and Karate Kid's dodging leap. The destruction and smoke around them in the city add to the epicness of this battle. And then, as usual, I turned this piece over to Simon Gough, and he somehow made the scale of this one feel even bigger! The colors in the smoke and skies add an apocalyptic feel. And the reds Simon used on Mangog make him look Satanic. So yeah, I love this collaborative commission and cannot thank Kevin and Simon enough for their fantastic work!

Mangog has the power of an entire race, billions of beings, and their combined hatred�fuels him. He is pretty much unstoppable. He can be knocked around by physical attacks, but they don't actually hurt him. So yeah, Val Armorr's chances here are not good. That being said, Mangog is not super smart, and he can be tricked. So Val is gonna have to cheat to win here, probably by calling on Brainiac 5 for help, but hey, whatever works! Cheat to win!

Really like how the difference in size between the 2 combatants is rendered, and the splotchy kind of inks really work here! Also dynamic - love how the movement is Mangog's punching right arm is shown. Very nice, indeed. Congrats!
