DescriptionThis is a momentous add for me. I've been looking for this DPS since it was originally published, twelve years ago. It's been in my CAF Want List FOREVER.I began by asking Ed's rep at the time, no luck. I waited. I asked Ed's new rep, no luck. I waited. I asked Ed, no luck. I asked the two biggest Hulk collectors in the hobby (shout out to Yarish and Jade Giant), no luck. No one even remembered seeing the piece let alone who might own it. Cut to last weekend, I get a CAF mail from the incredible, inimitable Duke Fleed. "I thought this might be of interest" he said. Um yeah, it was. It's mine now. The search is over. Thank you so much, Duke. So, about the piece itself. Personally I feel no one does exaggerated anatomy like Ed McGuinness. These two characters are huge brutes and boy howdy does that come across. Look at that country ham Ben is swinging! Rulk's anguished expression indicating the Thing is doing what he does best, pasting Hulks. Farmer slays the inking, expertly mixing drybushing, white out and layers of Kirby Krackle to achieve the final result. Please enjoy and know that OA dreams do come true. Social/Sharing |

Ed is the perfect artist for this big, bulky, bombastic, brutish battle with two of marvel's mightest! Major congrats on adding this DPS to your collection.

BRILLIANT. Oh, my stars and garters, Chris... My jaw dropped open when I saw this, which provided a nice, loud aural "pop!" to accompany the visual pyrotechnics... :)
From a fanboy perspective, this was _THE_ moment I was most eagerly anticipating in the Red Hulk run: the moment where Bashful Benji got to introduce Red to a true staple of life as a Hulk - Clobberin' Time. As a comic art fan, I was overjoyed that this moment was shared with us by Ed McGuinness - who better to capture the enormous figures and force of the blows? Who would be better equipped to make a DPS feel like a 4PS? Yeah - no one.
Love the perspective here and how things are exploding outwards at the reader, as well as the fact that there's not a static centimeter anywhere on this killer - it's all kinetic; it's all Krackle and kapow. Just... BOOM, man. Dang.
Once again, my most heartfelt congrats, Chris, and mega-cosmic-props to the good Duke, who, by helping this Thing find a home in your collection - the only place this spread _could_ be, really... - played a titanic part in putting things a bit more into balance in the universe. :)

(Really beautiful inking touches, too, like the shading on Ben's chest and under his right arm, as well as Rulk's fingernails... Just gorgeous work all around...)

Congratulations on acquiring the piece! It's got the pulse pounding, wham bam thank you, m'am that should always be present in a Thing vs Hulk battle and Farmer's rendering of McGuinness' pencils is sublime!

No, he spotted it for sale in the UK. I had never heard of the seller and wouldn’t have seen it had he not told me about it.

Agreed on McGuinness's genius with pronounced anatomy; this is just a fantastic example. Beautiful DPS and happy it's in the right collection now!

Obviously everyone knows that Ed does a great Hulk. But I was really pleasantly surprised by how good a job he does on Thing. I'd be super jealous of this beauty if I didn't have a McGuinness Thing DPS of my own. You still get the edge though, since my DPS pretty much just features Ben's backside. LOL

Right in the kisser! This is such a great story in regards to acquisition, and a reason to always keep your eyes peeled. The magnitude of this DPS is as big as the two heroes going at it. An official clobbering time image and a very memorable one at that. Really is a beautiful piece of art. Congrats Chris!!

There's no doubt about the quality of the art. It's Ed doing what he does best. And Farmer is a personal fave of mine so it's super cool seeing this combo work their magic together. But honestly, the story accompanying this acquisition ramps up the art to another level. Love that you ended up with this piece, man! There is balance in the universe.

Chris, a superb DPS. The ever lovin Thing vs: Red Hulk! An incredible image featuring two of the most powerful beings in the MCU. Although the Hulk is the strongest there is, The Thing is a personal favorite because of his non stop perseverance and heart! Congrats on your quest in obtaining this personal Grail. This hobby is about nostalgia and when we find one of our grails, the emotional satisfaction is almost overwhelming!

YES! The perfect piece for your collection! I know people think Ed's Hulk is one of best Hulks, and I agree, but to me, his Ben Grimm is right up there Witness exhibit A here if you have any doubt. A BOOMING punch on Rulk here - a piece that defines what the double page splash was made for. And some super clean ink work, too, by Farmer. Huge congrats, my friend!
