I had been wanting a copy of the "Totoro Forest Project" book for a number of years but could never justify paying the prices that sellers were asking for them. That all changed when I saw a copy listed on ebay that included this fantastic Bill Presing painting. I think the price I picked it up for was very fair since it came with the art and I think the auction went unnoticed because the seller didn't mention there was art included in the title. In the description it did say there was original art attached inside the front but unless you looked through all of the images you wouldn't have known it was by Bill. And let's be honest, when you see a copy of "The Totoro Forest Project" listed at what they usually list them for, you normally just give them a casual glance and think the seller is crazy if they think they are going to get that much for it. Nonetheless I am very pleased to finally have a copy of the fantastic book and getting another painting by Bill is the cherry on top.

Back in September of 2008 Dice Tsutsumi and Enrico Casarosa held an art auction to benefit the Totoro no Furusato Forest Foundation which was established by Hayao Miyazaki. There were multiple ticket tiers to participate in the auction. The $500 level known as the "Forest Hero" included an original bookplate by one of the artists. Bill only did 2 bookplates for the "Forest Hero" level.

This fantastic piece depicts a Totoro fairy among some beautiful foliage. Just a fantastic illustration by Bill that I am very pleased to have in the collection.

That's a fantastic acquisition. Sounds like you did some good diligent hunting and came up with a real gem.
