I didn't quite know what to expect from this hybrid that homages the incredible talents of Disney artist M. De Vita and movie director N. Winding Refn.
I only assumed that Goofy, the character M. De Vita adores the most, should have been in it.

And I was not wrong, Goofy, the one from De Vita's famous and celebrated "Topolino e la spada di ghiaccio" fantasy story (first chapter of a tetralogy that takes place in the lands of Argaar), is there with that peculiar sword. And here he's also One-Eye, the Norse warrior protagonist from Winding Refn's "Valhalla Rising" movie.

"Valhalla Rising" is so visually powerful that the clouds in the sky appear so imposing that you can think of them as real characters. I find the same energy, and also feel similar emotions, by looking at this illustration that also involves that peculiar Goofy, as imagined by De Vita for the Argaar saga, not any more a supporting actor but the real protagonist of the story.

One-Eye, in the movie, could represent Odin, father of the Gods (associated with knowledge, prophecy, war, and victory), and I kinda see a similarity with Goofy from De Vita's Argaar saga, where he really is almost like a God; he can do and achieve anything.

Like Refn's movie, this piece is rough. It's dirty. But it's also true, in the pure spirit of De Vita's work.

Stunning piece.
