Description

George Wunder stepped into some pretty big shoes in the last 2 days of 1946. He took over the wildley popular Terry and Pirates strip from its original creator. Milton Caniff created a story line and cast of characters that were loved world wide. In his 13 years on the strip, Caniff had set up a legacy that would last in publication for many more decades. Wunder stepped into this role and did a great job with the strip. He took basic elements and some of the characters but left many behind as he set out to make his own mark on the strip and that he did for almost 3 decades. Here is a nice Sunday from the first year of the strip. Nice bold panels, inking, action and dialogue. Everything a Terry strip should be. Like many of the earlier strips by Wunder I have seen, this one is made of separate panels that are attached to a larger art board. I believe this was done for reformatting depending on how the strip was reprinted in the various papers.
