DescriptionYou are witnessing the workings of evil doers on ebay:-( The photo above is of a FAKE,This "original" CH with "LOA" currently on ebay seller snugglebug2009 is a COMPLETE FRAUD!!!! Upon spotting this great "find" I took note of the LOA on Andrews McMeal letterhead authenticated and supposedly signed by Kirsty. I reached out to her via phone and made her aware of the auction.She immediately and without hesitation called it a fraud and sincerly told me not to waste my money:-) Kirsty is working on getting this taken down.I am reporting this to you all because I love Bill Watterson for the gift he gave us in Calvin and Hobbes.I also care about all my CAF friends and want to do whatever I can to protect the legitimacy of our hobby. thanks of the heads up. I'm no expert but i just assume any "original art" by watterson on eBay is fake. another ch pic sold recently (different seller id) that gave me a real sense of foreboding but what do i know :)

The seller of this fake made a bid on that other piece you mentioned and I figured it out by the number of feedback.I sent pics of the other CH to Doug Gillock at ComicLink and he gave me solid advice.

Pretty strange to see a seller with that much perfect feedback suddenly go bad. Perhaps the account was hijacked? You'd think a person trying to scam would at least spell the name of the strip correctly.

Congratulations on the original. I hope the 18 bidders on snugllebug2009 have the fake pulled down before they pay for a fraud. Sad to see that someone try to profit off of collectors who truly love Calvin and Hobbes.

Many thanks for the warning! In fact there's a shameful bunch of fakes on eBay (they're mostly sketches) auctioned even by apparently professional and honest sellers, with many positive feedbacks. In some cases it may be they're in good faith or even inexperienced, but you can be sure that almost always they're real swindlers!

We have to be careful not to let our desire to obtain a grail blind us from reality. CAF is a great place to network and share valuable information.Nothing is 100% but my experiences with deals connected to CAF members have been great:-)
